Orange (Provençal Occitan: Aurenja in classical norm or Aurenjo in Mistralian norm) is a town and commune in the département of Vaucluse, in the south of France. It has a population of 27,989 people (1999), with a primarily agricultural economy. It is located at 44°08N 4°48E, about 21 km north of Avignon. It is the warmest city in France, if the average temperature is considered.
